简介
英美语言学对于同义词的比较和使用非常重视。我国大学生无论在英语作文方面、在大学英语测试中多项选择方面，还是在交谈方面有不少不符合英语的习惯用法，其中不少是同义词的问题。同义词给英语学习者带来了相当的困惑，大学英语考试、TOEFL和GRE等测试中，应试者因缺乏这方面的知识，影响了他们的成绩，对英语教师也是很大挑战。
本书选取了大学英语考试中的同义词近460组，配以四、六级考试中的题目或国外参考书中的例题，加以分析，力求做到以最清晰、最简单的方式让读者掌握这些词的异同点。
本书除了着重阐明同义词基本词义和引申含义方面的异同外，还对试题中的同义词进行比较，对适用范围、词义重点、习惯搭配等多方面进行辨析。有少量虽不属同义词，但因形似常引起混淆，也被选入其中，以利对试题的辨析。至于对每题后半部分扩展的内容，读者可以根据自己的需要有选择性阅读。
